This accidental creation produced a massive amount of resin resulting in the nick-name “Gorilla” because the resin production was so large; it was literally causing trimmers’ scissors to adhere together during pruning operations, and it also left the hands of growers covered in trichomes.

Origin of Gorilla
GG4 is part of the GG Strains family and was developed through an accidental cross of Chem’s Sister, Sour Dubb, and Chocolate Diesel. When the original seeds in the accidental cross began producing hermaphroditic flowers and inadvertently pollinating other plants in the same area, the grower was initially going to discard all of the seeds. However, instead of discarding them, the grower discovered a hybrid plant that was incredibly resinous and exceptionally potent. Following two Cannabis Cup wins (both in Los Angeles and Michigan) in 2014, the fame of GG4 quickly grew throughout the world-wide cannabis community.
Taste & Smell
Like many aspects of GG4, the flavor and aroma characteristics of this strain are certainly NOT subtle. Upon opening a bag of dried buds, the intense smell immediately hits your senses — a strong, acrid diesel and chemical sharpness is the primary characteristic, overlaid upon a deep rich earthy base that contains notes of pine, coffee, and dark chocolate. As you inhale, the diesel continues to dominate with a mild sweetness as you exhale helping soften the sharpness. Terpenoids include caryophyllene, myrcene, and limonene making this strain a clear example of a strong, complex and clearly American-flavored hybrid.
