What are THC Flowers?
Thc flowers (also known as cannabis buds, weed, etc. And/or “flower”) are the top portion of the female cannabis Sativa plant (dried and cut). They represent the plant’s largest concentration of the many different types of cannabinoids. In particular they contain tetrahydrocannabinol (thc) — the main chemical in cannabis that gets people high.
While concentrates or edibles will get you high too, and they can be convenient ways to consume cannabis, they do not offer you the full spectrum of plant material that you would receive with a piece of raw flower. Raw flower contains cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids which interact synergistically in a phenomenon that many researchers refer to as the entourage effect. This refers to the idea that multiple compounds present in cannabis will create a greater, more complete effect then if each individual compound was taken separately.
Indica vs Sativa vs Hybrids
Here is a quick and dirty explanation of the differences:
- Indica flowers tend to be higher in cbd and lower in thc compared to Sativa. Indicas are commonly reported to be more physically focused (i.e., body-focused) and are therefore generally used in the evening to unwind after a long day. They are also commonly used to manage pain and relaxation.
- Sativa flowers tend to be higher in thc and lower in cbd. Sativas typically produce a more mental, euphoric effect. Users of Sativa have been known to report increased energy and creativity, while others report being much chattier. Therefore, Sativa is often preferred during the day.
- The majority of the hybrid products that you see on store shelves today are hybrids. Hybrid flowers have mixed characteristics of both parents.
Modern understanding note: while the Indica/Sativa split is still useful for Beginners, current scientific research suggests that terpene profiles and th/cb ratio are actually more predictive of how someone will react to a given flower than whether it is indicas, sativas or hybrids. Therefore, when shopping online we list as much detail as possible regarding each product’s cannabinoid & terpene profile.
Understand THC percentages
Thc is expressed as a percentage of the entire weight of dried flower. Here is a rough guideline for how various levels of thc affect the user:
| THC Level | Percentage Range | Who It's Best For |
| Low | 5% – 12% | Beginners, microdosers, CBD-forward users |
| Moderate | 12% – 20% | Casual consumers, balanced effects |
| High | 20% – 26% | Experienced users seeking stronger effects |
| Very High | 26%+ | Seasoned consumers, high-tolerance users |
Common Key Terpenes & how they work
Terpenes are the aromatic oils within each flower that give off each unique odor or flavor. But like thc and other cannabinoids, terpenes influence your Experience as well. Below are five common terpenes you’ll find in our thc flowers:
Myrcene — smells/flavors like earthy/musky/herbal. Myrcene is the most common terpene found in cannabis and has been connected with relaxation.
Limonene — has a strong citrus scent/flavor. Limonene has been shown to elevate moods and reduce stress.
Caryophyllene — smells/tastes like spicy/piney. Caryophyllene is unique in that it binds directly with cb2 receptors and might possess anti-inflammatory properties.
Linalool — has a floral/lavender scent. Linalool has been linked with reducing anxiety and providing calmness.
Pinene — smells/tastes like pine. Pinene has been demonstrated to assist with memory, promote alertness and provide focus.
Methods to use THC Flowers
There are numerous ways you can consume cannabis flower. Some of the most popular ways include:
- Smoke — the original method of consuming cannabis. Smoke is produced when burning cannabis either in a pipe, bong or rolled into a joint. Onset of effects: immediate (in minutes); duration of effects: relatively short
- Vape — also referred to as vaping. Vaping involves heating your cannabis flower at a temperature under 400 degrees fahrenheit (the exact same temp needed to combust marijuana) so instead of burning it and creating smoke you create vapor. Vaporizing allows many users to avoid irritating their lungs while enjoying a clean tasting cannabis Experience.
- Use a One-hitter or chillum — ideal for dosing exactly.
- Add to butter/oil — great for cooking/baking with cannabis. Decarboxylation needs to occur before adding to your food/butter/oil.
For newbie cannabis users: start low go slow!
When trying cannabis for the first time, remember that it’s always better to begin slowly with a small amount of a mid-level potency strain. Trying a high potency flower for your first-time could lead to an unpleasant Experience.
Our methodology when choosing flower products
Each flower product sold at Weed Wonderland has undergone extensive evaluation processes before reaching our shelves:
- Correct cure + trim — proper curing helps even burn rates & greatly improves flavor.
- Open grower practices — we only work with growers who openly share details about their grow operations.
- Freshness — we rotate our inventory regularly so that customers receive our newest products.
Storing your flower so it stays potent
Once you purchase your flower, storing it properly will keep it potent/aromatic/fresh for longer:
Store it in an airtight glass container away from any light/source of heat
Optimal humidity levels: 55-62%. There are several affordable options available for controlling humidity, such as Boveda humidity control packs.
Do not expose to direct sunlight: over time direct sunlight will convert all of your thc into CBN
Don’t store it in the fridge: temperature fluctuations cause condensation which leads to mold growth
