- THC vape in UK

The appearance of your vape cartridge may seem ideal, with attractive packaging, impressive branding and [high THC percentages](/product-category/thc-vape-e-liquid/options/thc-highthc/). However, how it appears on the outside has no relation to how the product tested. This is where the laboratory test report, also known as a Certificate of Analysis (COA), can provide you with some insight into the quality of the product. While the COA provides some valuable information, most users will find themselves confused by the numerous abbreviations used, unit conversions, and chemical names. So here is an example of what to check first.

## **1. Make Sure the Report Matches the Product**

Review what information was provided with the Certificate of Analysis (COA) before checking THC content levels. Check to see if the COA corresponds to the product that is in front of you. The COA should have:

- product name
- brand name
- batch/lot #
- sample ID#
- date tested
- description of product

Of all items listed above, it would be best to check the batch number as this will tell you if the COA is from a production batch other than the one you are testing.

## **2. Check Who Did the Testing**

A proper report should clearly identify the laboratory. Look for:

- laboratory name
- address or contact details
- certificate or report number
- test dates
- signature or approval details
- QR code or verification link

A screenshot saying **“Lab Tested”** is not the same as a full COA. You should be able to identify who tested the sample and when.

## **3. Understand the Cannabinoid Panel**

This is usually the section people check first. You may see:

- Δ9-THC
- THCA
- CBD
- CBG
- CBN
- CBC
- Total THC

 Results may be shown as:

- %
- mg/g
- mg/mL
- mg per unit

Always check the unit. For example, **850 mg/g** is not the same as **850 mg per cartridge**. A big number means very little if you do not know what it measures.

## **4. Do Not Judge Quality by THC Alone**

Simply because a cartridge shows 92% THC does NOT mean that it is superior to a cartridge with 78% THC. That fact alone will not provide information on:

- contaminants in the product;
- the flavor;
- hardware performance;
- terpene balance;
- your actual batch.

There are many aspects of cannabis products that include but do not stop at THC levels.

## **5. Check the Terpene Profile**

Some COAs also include terpene testing. Common names include:

- myrcene
- limonene
- beta-caryophyllene
- linalool
- pinene
- terpinolene

You do not need to memorise them all. Simply check which terpenes are present, which are dominant, and whether the profile makes sense for the product description.

## **6. Look for Residual Solvent Testing**

Extracted products may be tested for residual solvents such as:

- butane
- propane
- ethanol
- methanol
- acetone
- benzene
- hexane

Do not panic just because a chemical name appears on the report. Labs often list every substance included in the test panel. What matters is the result beside it. You may see:

- **ND**
- **Not Detected**
- **<LOQ**
- **PASS**
- a measured numerical value

## **What Do ND and LOQ Mean?**

**ND** usually means **Not Detected**. That does not always mean absolute zero. It generally means the substance was not detected at or above the laboratory’s relevant detection level. **LOQ** means **Limit of Quantitation**. If you see **<LOQ**, it usually means the amount was below the level the laboratory could reliably measure. The simple rule is:

- **ND** does not necessarily mean absolute zero
- **<LOQ** is not the same as a precise zero
- testing limits matter

## **7. Check for Pesticides and Heavy Metals**

A full report may include pesticide and heavy metal testing. Heavy metals can include:

- lead
- cadmium
- arsenic
- mercury

 Check:

- whether the test was performed
- which substances were included
- the result
- the unit
- whether the sample passed the applied limit

Do not assume a cartridge passed these tests simply because the COA shows a high THC percentage.

## **8. Look for Microbial and Mycotoxin Testing**

Depending on the laboratory and product, a report may also test for:

- yeast
- mould
- Aspergillus
- Salmonella
- E. coli
- aflatoxins
- ochratoxin A

Again, the key rule is simple: **Not shown does not mean passed.** If a testing panel is missing, the report does not prove that the product passed it.

## **Common Red Flags**

 Be cautious if you see:

- ### **No batch number**

You cannot clearly connect the report to the cartridge.

### **Only a screenshot**

A cropped image showing only THC and PASS may hide the rest of the report.

### **Potency testing only**

A THC result does not prove testing for solvents, pesticides, or metals.

### **Mismatched product details**

The product name, batch, or dates do not match.

### **No identifiable laboratory**

“Independent Lab Tested” means little if no lab is named.

### **An old report**

Especially when paired with new packaging or a different batch.

## **A Simple 60-Second COA Check**

Before buying or using a cartridge, ask:

1. Does the batch match?
2. Is the laboratory clearly identified?
3. When was the sample tested?
4. What panels were actually run?
5. What units are being used?
6. Are there any FAIL results?
7. Can the report be verified?

That quick check already tells you much more than the THC number on the box.
