The early results show that for some individuals, specific methylation patterns may return to their baseline within months of abstinence; nevertheless, individual variation is extreme and the timeline will vary dramatically from individual to individual. In this way, it is worth pondering the real-life similarities with how our bodies respond and recover from other lifestyle factors.
